Calderglen High School

S2 School of Football

Dear Parent/Carer,

I am writing to inform you of an exciting opportunity for pupils in S2 at Calderglen High
School. We are pleased to announce the launch of a School of Football Programme,
which offers students the chance to further develop their football skills while benefiting
from a structured and professional environment. This programme is designed to
complement our academic curriculum while fostering a passion for the sport and
encouraging personal growth.

The positions available within this programme are highly sought after and will be
awarded to students who demonstrate both a strong commitment to the sport and a
dedication to upholding the values of our school. We understand that playing football at
any level requires much more than just talent on the pitch. It requires respect,
determination, ambition, and responsibility – values that are at the core of everything
we do here at Calderglen. These positions are a privilege, and we are looking for pupils
who show enthusiasm for the game, have a willingness to learn, and are committed to
achieving their personal best. There will also be expectations around attendance,
latecoming and wearing full school uniform. We believe that every student who is
selected will not only develop their footballing ability but will also grow in confidence,
teamwork, and leadership. Should there be a situation where applications are
oversubscribed, a ballot will take place to determine the 24 spaces within the
programme.

It is essential for pupils who are selected to fully engage in the programme as well as
their curricular studies. This will require a high level of participation, including weekly
training sessions and maintaining a positive attitude throughout the academic year.
Football is a fantastic way to develop both physical and mental skills, but it is also a
commitment that must be taken seriously.

Should your child be interested in this opportunity, we encourage you to have a
discussion with them about the importance of this programme and the responsibilities
it entails. Pupils will be required to submit a note of interest in the programme via the
below form.

We highly encourage all interested students to give this their full attention, as this is an
opportunity that can have a significant positive impact on their personal and athletic
School of Football development. We are excited about the prospect of welcoming our talented S2 students to the School of Football Programme and look forward to seeing the growth and success
of each player involved.
